Footballers4Change is a unique online platform offering pre-loved items gifted by iconic footballers and their families. Items range from kit, designer wear and children’s clothing. Proceeds go to a charitable cause of the families choosing.
Our mission
By harnessing the far-reaching power of football, the generosity of the players, and the devotion of the fans we are able to add priceless value to a gifted item by attaching an idol’s story to it. This way not only do we tackle sustainability by dramatically extending the life of clothing, but we are also creating a revitalising force for change by giving much-needed attention and funds to the participant’s chosen charitable cause – wherever in the world that might be.
We see no borders, believe in no barriers, and are united in our ability to turn possessions into silver and pre-loved gear into gold.
It’s All About The Story
Too often, guilt and pressure are used to push people into contributing to a charitable cause or support sustainable. Footballers4Change wants to use the power of positive stories to make it fun and rewarding to do good! Stories about high-profile individuals, stories around the gear and clothing, and possibly even stories of the fans that score the winning bids on premium items which will make this beneficial initiative inspiring and fun. We seek to change minds, hearts and behaviours through creative competition, not coercion.
Benefit to participants
Participating players and their families have a chance to set the trend for greater social responsibility through their philanthropic donations and their support of a charitable cause of their choosing. Footballers4Change offers sport personalities to have an inspiring leadership and influencer role even off the field.
A Truly Sustainable Mindset
While we are at the beginning of adding a transferable value to a person’s emotional connection to an item, ultimately we want to promote a virtuous circle by eliminating waste. Our ultimate aim is to turn the damaging impacts of unwanted clothing into restorative ones. For instance, we soon will allow customers to sell their purchased items back to us, and we are looking into a creating a resale function in the near future. We are also exploring possibilities with innovating recycling partners to turn clothing items at the end of their lifecycle into usable fibres.
Responsible Measurement
It is never easy to measure sustainability. However, by using a variety of sales reports, we can get some idea of how much waste we’ve rescued from landfill sites. At the other end, we rely on our charitable partners to report on what the impact was of the donations provided and how the money was spent. We will communicate all of this as clearly and transparently as possible to everyone involved.
Fees
Footballers4Change has not been established to make profit, but we need to pay people, technology and systems.
